Diploma for the Children & Young Peoples Workforce (Early Years Pathway)

From September 2010 the new Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (CYPW) will become available.

This qualification has been developed by the the CWDC (Children's Workforce Development Council) and will replace all existing Level 3 childcare qualifications including the NVQ 3 CCLD, the DCE (Diploma in Childcare & Education) and the Diploma in Home-Based Childcare (DHC).

The aim of the new qualification is to:

 a) Create one childcare qualification for the children and young people's workforce (at present there are many courses available which is confusing for employers,  childcarers and parents alike)

 b) Enable child-carers to move more easily between different sectors of the children's workforce without having to do new qualifications

 c) Enable child-carers to take the qualification at a pace that suits them achieving credit for units already passed

Course Structure: The Diploma consists of many units however we combine these units into 3 sensibly sized Modules.

Course Length: Each of the 3 Modules takes 4 months to complete so the total course length is 12 months.(As the course is home study learners can take a break between Modules to allow for other commitments).

Delivery: Home Study (no classroom attendance will be required at all, although learners will require internet access).

Support: All learners will have one to one support from their assessor who will come to visit them in their workplace setting and their own personal tutor available via phone/email.

Fees: Many learners will be able to gain bursaries from their local authority to cover most or all of the course fees- contact your local authority early years department to see if you are eligible (please contact us if you are unsure how to do this) .

Other learners will need to pay- each Module costs £330 (incl VAT). (Staggered payments available please contact us for details).

Enrolling: Learners can enrol and start the course at anytime to suit them (from end Sept 2010). Please download the information/application form on the right.
