CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People's Workforce


Why do you need the CACHE Level 3 CYPW?

The level 3 CYPW is the new Level 3 childcare qualification for all practitioners in the Early Years workforce which confers occupational competence in early years and home-based settings (this includes nursery nurse training / nursery nurse qualifications among others). We deliver this course predominantly online - there is no need to attend a classroom. Learners will complete assessments online and will also be observed in the workplace by their assessor

Course Structure: The Diploma is accredited by CACHE and consists of many units, however we combine these units into 3 sensibly sized Modules and has a minimum credit value of 65 credits.

Course Length: Each of the 3 Modules takes around 4 months to complete so the total course length is approximately 12-15 months

Areas of Delivery: MNT have assessors and are able to support learners within the following locations:

  • Dorset, Wiltshire, North Somerset
  • Manchester, Cheshire

Course Content

The course is a level 3 QCF course and covers the age range 0-19 years. It has a minimum credit value of 65 credits

MODULE 1 (Total 17 credits)

UNIT TITLE

SHC31: Promote communication in health, social care or children and young people's settings

EYMP 5: Support children's speech, language and communication

EYMP 3: Promote children's welfare and well being in the early years

CYP CORE 3.4: Support children and people's health and safety

SHC 33: Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children and young people's settings

MODULE 2 (Total 20 credits)

UNIT TITLE

CYP CORE 3.1: Understand child and young person development

CYP CORE 3.2: Promote child and young person development

EYMP 2: Promote learning and development in early years

CYP CORE 3.5: Develop positive relationships with children, young people and others involved in their care

CYP CORE 3.7: Understand how to support positive outcomes for children and young people

EYMP 1: Context and principles for early years provision

SHC 32: Engage in personal development in health, social care or children and young people's settings

SHC 34: Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children and young people's settings

EYMP 4: Professional practice in early years settings

When and How

CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People's Workforce


Mode of Study/Assessment:

By home study – all learners will study at home using materials provided to them. All learners will require internet access as assessments and study materials will be stored electronically on an electronic portfolio.

This course also requires time to be spent in practical placement

All learners will be:

a) assessed in their workplace by an assessor

b) will also need to complete written assessment tasks online

All learners will be required to complete mandatory units, early years pathway units and optional units totalling 65 credits

We combine these units into 3 sensibly sized and arranged Modules

Pre-Requisites:

Learners need to be at least 16 years of age and currently working in a setting in a professional capacity(this can be home-based) with children between 0-5 years of age (this includes children in the Reception year of school). The work can be unpaid/voluntary as well as paid work.

For learners with no previous childcare experience it is recommended that you spend a minimum of 2 days a week in an early years setting while studying the course.

Learners must have a reasonable command of the English language to be accepted onto the course

Learners study much of this course online and must therefore ensure their computer meets the minimum requirements as refunds cannot be given once enrolled. If you have any concerns about this please call us and we will be happy to offer support. These requirements include:

  1. Internet access and a working email address

  2. Up to date internet browser such as: internet explorer/safari/google chrome/firefox (if your browser is not up to date your screen may not display the content as it should. Please call us if you wish us to help you check your browser and how to update it if needed- it's very easy- even we can do it!)

  3. Use of a computer to study the course - tablets and smartphones are not advisable for studying as the display and functionality can be affected.

  4. Additionally learners should be familiar with navigating a website and have used a Word Processing package such as Microsoft Word in the past.

Fees and Applying

Funding/Fees:

Option 1: For learners in specific areas of the South and South East, (aged between 19-23), we are able to offer SFA (Skills Funding Agency) funding or part funding to support individual learners, (learners will be required to meet certain criteria in order to access funding). Option 2:Many learners will be able to gain bursaries from their local authority to cover most or all of the course fees- contact your local authority early years department to see if you are eligible (please contact us if you are unsure how to do this).

Option 3:Self funding- learners not eligible for funding via Options 1 or 2 above will need to pay themselves. Each Module costs £395 (incl VAT). (Staggered payments available please contact us for details- 0844 8268 446).
