Birth and Post Natal Doula Training Courses
Overview: These 2 courses are designed for women who are considering working as birth or post-natal doulas or both. Doulas provide support to women in a caring nurturing manner and understanding the philosophy behind the support that doulas provide to other women is an important part of training.
Students should be aware that completion of a doula training course is the not the end of the road in terms of becoming a doula it is merely the beginning of a doula's journey and self-awareness and personal reflection are an important aspect of being a doula.
Venue: Reading University, London Road Campus
Dates in 2010:
Post-Natal course dates: 3rd-4th June
Birth course dates:15th-17th July, 28th-30th October
Attendance: 9.30 – 4.30 pm
Course Length: 3 Days for Birth Doula and 2 Days for Post Natal Doula Course
Assessed Course: Yes - students will need to successfully complete the post course assessment at home following the course
Suitable For: Women with some experience of birth and/or the post-natal period who wish to train to become a Doula. Students do not need to have had their own children to attend the courses.
