Contracts for Maternity Nurses
All Maternity Nurses in the UK work on a self-employed basis and therefore are strongly advised to use contracts each time they are hired by a family.
Benefits of using a properly prepared contract:
1. It provides clients with clear information as to the duties performed by the Maternity Nurse they hire
2. It provides clear information as to the terms of a position including fees, deposits, length of contract and so on- which helps avoids misunderstadnings or disputes later on
3. Clients are less likely to cancel a Maternity Nurse if a contract has been signed and a deposit paid
4. A contract can be used in court to assist a Maternity Nurse in the rare event of non-payment by a client
5. It can help clients to determine their own specific requirements when hiring their Maternity Nurse
Purchase of Maternity Nurse Contracts:
We have- after considerable legal consultation, prepared standard contracts for Maternity Nurses to use.
The contracts come in packs of 5 and are currently available at a price of £15.00 (including VAT) per pack plus postage. (Discounts for bulk orders of 5 packs or more are available for both Maternity Nurses and Agencies-please call for details).
(Please note the contracts pertain to English Law and practices and may not be suitable if a Maternity Nurse is working overseas).
If you would like to purchase a pack or multiple packs please call us on 0844 8268 446.
Ensuring Maternity Nurses are Working To Current Guidelines When Caring for Newborns in a Child-Care Capacity:
Each contract pack also comes with a set of current guidelines which form part of the contract so that Clients and Maternity Nurses are both fully aware of current guidelines/best practice for:
a) administering medicines
b) preparation of infant formula
c) reducing the risk of sudden infant death
As these guidelines do change from time to time we advise Maternity Nurses to write down which version number of the guidelines they are following when using the contracts.
The current guideline version number to be used is: Version 3 (Correct as at January 2012 - Next review Jan 2013).
(Click here to view this current version of the guidelines).
(NB Please note the guidelines are an integral part of the contracts and are not to be used unless a contract pack has been purchased. They have only be provided here so that individuals who have previously purchased contracts can check if the version number they are using is the most up to-date version).
